Count Oliver’s big night

A trick-or-treat story in three bites.

Saturday afternoon

Pumpkin surgery 🎃

Dad did the carving, Oliver did the scooping — and named the pumpkin "Gary". Gary has a wonky smile and a very big nose.

Saturday, dusk

Trick or treat! 🍬

Cape on, fangs in. Oliver led his cousins Ruby (ghost) and Max (pumpkin) up Maple Close and said "I vant to eat your… sweets!" at every door.

Saturday night

The great sweet count 🦇

Final total: 47 sweets, 3 lollies and one satsuma (thanks, Mrs Hughes). Two were swapped with Dad for "vampire tax".

Spooky-sweet wishes

Messages from the family coven.

🧛

Best vampire on the street! We loved your "Bleh, bleh!" Happy Halloween, Oliver.

— Mum & Dad
🎃

Gary the pumpkin is the handsomest pumpkin we have ever seen. Save us a sweet!

— Grandma & Grandad
👻

Thank you for holding my hand at the dark bit. You are a brave vampire.

— Ruby (age 5, ghost)
